Regional Blood Donor Centre

The Pakistan Red Crescent, Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) is implementing a “Safe Blood Program” that embodies the spirit of ‘Altruism’ and principle of Voluntary Un-paid Blood Donation. It is governed by the GOP National Blood Policy, Strategic Framework and Guidelines and implemented through 8 Blood Banks located at different parts f the country.

The PRC, NHQ Blood Transfusion Service has three components:

  1. Donor Recruitment Section
  2. Blood Bank & Laboratory
  3. Administration

Capacity assessment visits to all PRC Blood Donor Centres by teams from German Red Cross (GRC), GTZ, KFW and WHO EMRO Delegate have been conducted and reported. Blood Donor Centre at NHQ is remodelled and equipped with German Red Cross support.

i. Licensed Blood Donor Center by Government of Pakistan.
ii. Functioning as Regional Blood Donor Center (RBDC).
iii. Collected 96% Voluntary Non-remunerated Blood Donations.
iv. Deployment of state-of-the-art equipment.
v. Adherence of international standards and guidelines.
vi. Running school based awareness program in Islamabad on blood safety without financial support.
vii. Supporting Thalassemia, Hemophilia, Cancer and renal failure patients
viii. Providing free of cost blood to poor and needy patients on provision of Zakat form copy.
ix. Setup of emergency designated blood bank in disaster and humanitarian situations e.g. Earthquakes, Marriot Blast, APS Peshawar incident etc. or any other
